Thirty people training produce a heat and moisture load an office system cannot absorb. The critical parameter is outdoor air.

Why it matters
Why a gym asks for more
Occupancy swings hard through the day and the load is concentrated.
Stale air
Insufficient air change is felt immediately. It is the first thing members complain about and the hardest to fix afterwards.
Humidity
Moisture released during exercise condenses on cold surfaces and attacks finishes if it is not removed.
Locker rooms and showers
They need their own exhaust, held negative relative to the training floor, or odours migrate.

The system
What we install in a fitness facility
Sizing is done on real peak occupancy, not on floor area.
✓ High-capacity rooftop units for cooling
✓ Outdoor air sized for peak occupancy
✓ Dedicated locker room and shower exhaust
✓ Separate zoning for cardio, free weights and studios
✓ Air distribution designed to limit noise and draughts
Our process
From assessment to commissioning
Coordinated with your operations, permits and inspections included
01
Assessment
Site visit, survey of existing equipment, roof access and building constraints. We confirm what is actually there before proposing anything.
02
Design and quote
Sizing, duct routing and equipment selection, then a detailed quote: scope of work, equipment, schedule.
03
Installation
Roof work, ductwork and unit installation, electrical and gas coordination. Scheduled around your operating hours.
04
Permits and inspections
We handle permit applications and schedule the required inspections as part of the project, under Quebec building codes.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What our clients ask most often
How do you size HVAC for a gym?
On peak occupancy and the actual activity in each zone, not on square footage. A spin studio and a free-weight floor of the same size do not carry the same load.
What about humidity control?
It is handled through the combination of cooling and air change. In facilities with a pool or spa, dedicated dehumidification becomes necessary.
Can you work around our opening hours?
Yes, including for 24-hour facilities, by working zone by zone and reserving interruptions for the quietest periods.
Do you install for new gym construction?
Yes. We work on new construction as well as fit-outs of an existing space, coordinating with the general contractor.
Do you handle maintenance afterwards?
No. We install and document the system; routine maintenance goes to the service contractor of your choice.

Gym and fitness-centre ventilation
A gym generates heat, moisture and CO2 at rates that a standard commercial space never sees, and the load swings hour by hour with class schedules and peak periods. Undersized ventilation shows up as a humid, stuffy room and complaints during peak hours.
The design starts with outdoor-air rates per occupant and the internal gain from activity, which sets both the cooling capacity and the ventilation rate. Humidity control matters as much as temperature: without dehumidification, a heavily loaded space feels clammy no matter what the thermostat reads. We size the system for the peak, with zoning so locker rooms, studios and the main floor get the right conditions independently.
